Hi all,

Sorry for asking again, but after reading all the posts here the problem is still occurring.

When I launch Thunderbird, I'm asked for new data (Account Setup), like there is no profile available.

The application seems unable to locate or recognize my existing profile, but the profilefolder exists and its almost 90Gb of data. Should I complete Account Setup windows with my data?

Please help me! Tried with thunderbird -p command to repair or select another profile but with no success !

- installs.ini Default=Profiles/xxx.default Locked=1

- profiles.ini

Default=Profiles/xxx.default Locked=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/xxx.default Default=1 [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:115.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/115.11.1 OS Windows_NT 10.0 19045

Thank you !

I get nothing from that as I have no idea what the profiles were names before you converted them to XXX. Were they the same or not? Were the the same folder name as the one you are trying to force Thunderbird to use? Does this "profile folder" even contain a prefs.js file? Size is not relevant if there are no settings to load the profile with.

I see where "Matt" sent a response "This is your first post in this forum". What does that mean? I just had this problem happen to me and I would like to know if there has been a response that addresses the issue. Obviously I can't receive a response notification via email.

Fixed it myself. Here's my experience: I had just made a backup copy of the entire Thunderbird folder. Actually I accidentally moved it rather than copied, so I did an "Undo" and then copied. When I next tried to start Thunderbird I got the message about making a new account. Something about the move-and-undo the move messed things up. After a while I thought I'd try just deleting the Thunderbird folder and copy from the backup I had just made, and that fixed the problem. I'm clueless as to what explains how this worked or why the problem happened, but it does emphasize the need to make periodic backups of the entire folder.
