My 'myyahoo' homepage used to come up without entering username and password. but now needs the username every time I open firefox. Username for this page no longer is included in password manager although the password is.

If the name field is empty them you may need to remove that entry and make Firefox remember it on the next visit if you fill it. It is possible that you cleared the name filed at some point while logging in.
