I can't access my Virginmedia email account because it claims that Javascript is disabled, even though it is enabled as far as I can tell. Any suggestions?

When I try to log in to my Virginmedia email account it responds saying that Javascript needs to be enabled. However as far as I can tell it is already enabled. I have updated to the latest version of Java, but this did not help. I'll have to go back to IE8 since I'm running Windows XP, which is a shame... Can anyone offer any advice?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Java and Javascript are totally different and unrelated. Try to Reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Thanks very much for your suggestion. I found that clearing the cache and removing the Virginmedia cookies was sufficient to fix the problem. I didn't get as far as starting Firefox in Safe Mode since the problem was cured.

Absolutely fantastic to have this kind of help available. It's very much appreciated.

Thanks very much for your help. Your solution may well have worked, but I had already fixed it by following cor-el's suggestion.

It's great that people are keen to offer help: many thanks.
