Any solution to this shockwave/firefox problem that so many people are having? been happening for weeks, i think I'll stop using this browser if mozilla doesn't come up with a fix

Maybe you will just have to use another browser such as Google Chrome when you need to watch Flash Player content. There is normally no problem using more than one browser on a computer.

No doubt you read through the other thread /questions/970014 and will have tried the suggestions there. By the way the protected mode Flash Problem does not apply with Window XP, so at least that is one problem you need not contend with.

This sort of problem seems to affect some people and not others. Filing a bug with Adobe the FlashPlayer developers may be worth a try or even filing a bug with Firefox developers. I am wondering what you see exactly and how easy it is to reproduce. For instance if you go to a named Flash Player content does it always become unresponsive almost immediately or is it more of an intermittent problem, and what if any error messages do you see.

You appear to be on Firefox 23 and should try letting Firefox update to Firefox 24. In fact I would be tempted to suggest if you get Flash hangs or crashes that it would be worth trying installing Firefox Aurora as an additional browser because that has a new experimental reporter on it that specifically addresses existing problems with FlashPLayer reports.

Clutching at straws, rather but

  • I do note you have both Shockwave director and Flash Player installed. Try uninstalling Shockwave Director, you possibly have no need to have that installed does that help ?

In fact the thread you posted from mentions profile problems.Profile problems are not normally Firefox problems as such, but problems with an individual machine's setup.

Looking back at the other thread I note the OP was specifically saying a new profile helps PLEASE carefully try that.

Do NOT just remove the existing Firefox Profile. Just use the profile manager to create a new profile. Give the new profile a short but memorable name Flash1 would be suitable, and take care to use only an empty folder location do not nest profiles within existing profile folders

Once you have created an new Firefox profile do not rename it or remove it (At least not without taking advice first).
