I set up Sync on my now unusable hard drive, with all my Firefox goodies on it. I'm now on a different hard drive but when I try to set up Sync and retrieve my old data, it says I need a recovery key. I cant get one so it generates one but the new one apparently will delete the old data that I want making Sync pointless. How do I access my old data without a key?

I was and am now running Firefox 28.0 on both hard drives.

hello, it's not possible to retrieve your old sync data without the recovery key, since the data is stored encrypted on mozilla's sync servers and this is the only key to decrypt them. if you've already generated a new recovery key then in addition the data on the servers has been overwritten - so i fear this data is lost for good...
