when I'm in some websites - I click on an arrow to move to the next page within site - but nothing happens! this is happening more and more - what am I doing or not? it used to work fine until recently.

thank you! checked the plugins - they are up to date except for this one: Adobe Reader Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape outdated 15.9.20069.28170

I tried updating but it said I have a newer version installed - any way to remove this from the plugin list?

also, did the safe mode - same problem - anything else? thanks again

This is a known issue with the update checker. If the programs web site says you are up to date, then you are fine. Don’t worry.

Please post a public link we can check out, and describe what you do in detail.

here's an example: I was on this site - clicked the arrow to go to the next page/frame whatever, and no matter how much I clicked it wouldnt move to the next frame....

Are you using a private browsing window?

One of the headline changes in Firefox 42 is adding a tracking blocker in private browsing windows. Occasionally sites modify their links to run through an analytics service (so the site knows exactly what you clicked when). Tracking protection might cause those special links not to do work.

When anti-tracking is activated, a new shield icon should appear on the left end of the address bar. You can use that icon to make a temporary exception for the site. Or you can turn off the anti-tracking feature as a test.

If you turned on anti-tracking for regular windows, that needs to be turned off using a different approach:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste track and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the privacy.trackingprotection.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to true, double-click it to restore the default value of false -- you still can use it in private windows as long as privacy.trackingprotection.pbmode.enabled is set to its default value of true

I use the NoScript extension, which by default blocks advertising and tracking scripts. The only way I can get that slider to work is if I allow scripts from the following sites to run (there may be others, but at least these 3):

There's no image slider at all without this one:

If you use an ad blocker, try making an exception for that page temporarily to see whether it makes a difference.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Also make sure that security software isn't blocking JavaScript.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.
