Hello,

I currently having issues maintaining connections to the gmail servers. If I try to send an email it says it cannot connect to the server, or it has trouble saving drafts or saving sent emails. However if I wait a minute or two the issue is gone. I have not had this issue in the past. I can't tell if it is Thunderbird, GMail, or issues with my ISP.

I have GMail imap account, Thunderbird 45.6.0, Comcast/Xfinity ISP. Connections are all setup with SSL/TLS & OAuth2. Checks for messages every 10 min. Thanks.

Is the account IMAP? If so checking can be set to much longer than 10 minutes as gmail supports notification to Thunderbird of new mail.

I would suggest you look at your anti virus program. It is the one thing Windows users basically all have and few consider might hang or be on a go slow. Disable email scanning as a first step.
