Embedded Facebook videos won't generate a thumbnail in Firefox

I'm on a forum that allows embedded videos from the major sites -- YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc. -- and generates a thumbnail for the video. Within the last few months, Firefox will no longer generate a thumbnail for embedded videos from FB. It will generate them for YouTube and other sites. And other browsers will generate them for FB. It's just the one combination of embedded FB vids on Firefox that won't create a thumbnail.

I don't know if it's just my PC, or if this happens for others too. I've disabled all plug-ins and add-ons, and cleared out the cache, but it hasn't helped. I'm looking for ideas on other things to try -- any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi it is most likely McAfee® WebAdvisor

Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

That did it! I do have McAfee® Web Advisor and starting in safe mode allowed thumbnails to be generated. I would like to keep WA if I can -- is there any way to stop it from interfering without disabling WA entirely?

Thanks!!

Welcome. Do not know. Think it might just be 1 component of it.

I do not know hat comes with Extension so try turning things off and refreshing between until find which one.

There are 5 other anti-virus company's that do not play nice either.

Can always go to the forum : Do not ask me why they have it on Page 13 .... https://community.mcafee.com/t5/WebAdvisor/bd-p/mcafee-webadvisor/page/13

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
