The browser window get 2 or 3 millimeters bigger each time I open it. It doesn't get bigger or smaller while it is open. But if close it and open it again, its slightly bigger bothe vertically and horizontally. Eventually it gets too big for the computer screen and I have to manually reduce it in size, and the cycle starts over again. How do I corecct this?

Hi XakhopNarely,

Can you tell me what OS you're on and which version of Firefox you are using, it could help. Also, can you explain how you open Firefox ( a link, an icon on your desktop ) Does the issue remains with another mouse ?

Regards

This does solve the problem however, since I had it set to 115% and it is now set at 100%, items on my screen are too small now. Thank you for the solution. I do want to re-set the display to 115% so I will learn to live with the original for now and continue to look for a solution where I can keep it at 115%. So, if anyone can help me with this now, at least we've narrowed the problem and can focus on where to look. It is now clearly something to do with Windows 10 and how Firefox interacts with it.

Thanks jijiobli. Cor-el gave me a link to an answer: See the solution in this thread:

/questions/1234693 Firefox window grows a few pixels every time I open it .

At first I thought it was the mouse and I uninstalled and reinstalled and updated all my drivers. It wasn't the mouse. It is the advaced display, custom-size of the screen. I reset it to 100%, from my 115%, which fixed the problem, but now items on my screen are too small. Currently I am looking to have the 115% and keep the problem solved.

Hi XakhopNarely,

I just tried myself, with firefox version 62.0.3 at 110%. It seems I don't get the same issue. I can see you updated already, can you tell me if you still have the problem ?

Regards

Yes, I still have the problem. I manually update regularly. I am set on setting the windows to the custom size. So I have assumed this is a Firefox coding problem. However, if you don't have the same issue maybe there is an additional setting +/- that is causing the problem. What could it be. What could it be. I'm stuck.

Scaling issue or resolution issue is a Windows O/S problem not a Browser problem. It only takes the queue from the Windows settings.

In review, if I set the custom scaling to 100%, no problem. But if I set the custom scaling to 115%, or whatever, then the Browser takes the queue and it opens a little bit bigger each time I open it. It does stay that size while I am using it. But because the Browser reacts to the windows setting, it appears it is the Browser coding.

There are some cases for which this is fixed in Firefox 62.0.2, but apparently your case isn't covered. See the Release Notes.

Properly restore window size and position when restarting on Windows (bugs 1489214 and 1489852)

This bug is still open:

  • Bug 1493472 - Firefox not remembering window position in windows 10

(please do not comment in bug reports

... ok, perhaps time to try coding ...

Probably worth it to note that the Chrome window doesn't act this way. The various Microsoft Office windows don't act this way. And whatever other windows that I may open don't act this way. This appears to be a Mozilla Firefox problem only.

To be sure, there has been NO satisfactory solution to this problem. I have been keeping my custom scaling to 115%, and the problem continues. I believe this is a problem for Mozilla Firefox.

I have no issue with scaling or Browser size growing.

And are you using a custom scaling ? (w/ Windows10)
