Voice cracking on Firefox when playing DRM protected videos when playing at 2x speed
I previously thought this was a Udemy bug, but then I tried playing other DRM protected videos on 2x on both Firefox and Chrome to compare..... and Yes, audio(specially speech) crackles in video on playback on 2x. Reference DRM video : https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm Try playing this in 2x speed and observe the voice crackle. Does not occur on Chrome and Edge

and updated to 95.0. . . . I finally found where the plugin "Widevine Content Decryption
Module provided by Google Inc." was not updating to the newest version of
December 1, 2021. Ver #4.10.2391.0
cor-el; Make sure you have the latest Widevine version. You can toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.
- Settings -> General: Play DRM
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-drm
You can possibly check the XHR requests in the Browser Console if this doesn't work.
FireFox is at latest verion : 95.0.2 Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc. Plugin is at latest version : 4.10.2391.0 Have disabled and enabled DRM in firefox settings multiple times to (re)load DRM components. Have restarted Firefox multiple times.
Still the issue persists. Audio crackles when playing DRM videos on 2x speed.
The following reddit thread shows that I'm not the only one facing this issue. https://www.reddit.com/r/Udemy/comments/mvpqts/drm_on_udemy_videos_since_march_breaks_legitimate/
This is not a udemy bug, but a firefox issue... since any DRM video suffers from this (eg : https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm)
Kindly help
I called for more help.
Hi,
Were you able to reproduce the bug? Is there any Github issues page where I can raise it for the dev team?
Thanks & Regards
