Firefox Update Request Repeating

My browser is set to auto update, but in June I was notified that the auto update failed and I must do it manually. I did so immediately and installed the update. Since then, the settings is showing that firefox is up to date. However, everytime I open the browser I get the same notification for manual update and even if I download and install the update, the notification repeats the next time I open the browser. The settings continues to show that firefox is up to date.
