While browsing, firefox typically has 50+ processes running, despite no demanding webpages being open at the time. Even when all tabs are closed, it still has 18 processes open, which makes no sense. This occurs both with and without hardware acceleration on.

Firefox 108 added the Shift+Esc keyboard shortcut to open the about:processes page where you can see which processes have which tabs. In addition to site-specific processes, you'll find some Firefox processes for the privileged parts of the browser, Mozilla pages, and add-ons. If you compare this internal page with the Details tab of the Windows 10 Task Manager, are all of the processes accounted for, or are there more on the Windows side?

Do you mean the processes like Utility, Data Decoder, etc? If so I have 8 of those and 20 in windows task manager
