Why does the Bookmarks Toolbar, after removing it in Safe Mode, keep coming back after relaunching Firefox?

After Launching Firefox 3.6.15 in Safte Mode I click on View, then Toolbars, then Customize. I then click & drag the Bookmarks Toolbar to the Customize Toolbar window. After that I uncheck the Bookmarks Toolbar. When I close the Firefox browswer, and then reopen it the Bookmarks Toolbar is back. How do I get the Firefox Safe Mode browser to default with the Bookmarks Toolbar removed? It does work O.K. with the other regular Firefox browser.

Have you tried using View -> Toolbars ->[x] navigation toolbar and un-checking the item by clicking on it, to deselect.

The method you are using may well drag the bookmark items i.e. the individual bookmarks and bookmark folders off, but leave behind the, presumably, empty toolbar. ( If the remaining bookmarks toolbar is not empty what remains on it? - that may be a clue)

If my suggestion above, fails then next try:

  1. when the customise toolbars ( ? customize) option is available try using the option "restore default set" that it offers.
  2. after that if you still have a problem consider
