Hi,

The profile page of my yahoo account or the page containing the emails gets loaded after firefox has recovered from a crash without any request for entering login credentials. Hence, the security of my email account is compromised, since, any other person can recover the crashed session and gain access to my email account. Please guide me as to whether this problem is with firefox browser or the yahoo web-based email program.

You can disable session restore from reinstating the page after a crash by doing the following:

  1. In the location bar at the top where you normally type in a web address, copy/paste: about:config and hit Enter.

  2. In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash

  3. Double click it to change the setting from "True", to "False".

  4. Close the tab.

You can set the pref browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS, default in Firefox 3 versions) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.
