Same 8.0a2 update Aurora repeating endlessly. Automatic update has been applied several times and the Manual Update has even been downloaded applied once. I am still being asked to update Aurora with the same 8.0a2 update. Browser is currently showing version 8.0a2.

The Aurora builds are nightly builds that update each day to get patches that have baked on the Nightly branch for several weeks.
If you do not want to update daily then you should switch to the Beta channel (currently 7.0b4) or the Release channel (currently 6.0.2)

Sorry. I am getting the same update repeatedly. Not the nightly build. In fact, I am no longer getting nightly builds. Only the same build repeatedly.

Each build has a unique identifier. I am repeatedly getting the same identifier. I can install it and the program will want to re-install the very same build again.

I seriously doubt builds are coming out every few minutes.

Running Win XP.

Download the latest Aurora build.
Delete the Aurora program folder and do a clean install of that latest build.

You may have to check if there are files still pending installation and remove those.

If the updates were working correctly, you would get updates every day or few or more days whenever there are checkins. Currently you are using a old September 5th build.

The more unstable Nightly updates works the same way also but because there is almost always checkins each day there are 1 update (sometimes a respin build) each day.

This forum tends to see posts more on the stable Firefox releases so if you want to do testing and get help with such builds then http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23 may be better.

I was getting updates each day that I logged on. I'm simply not home every day. I usually get home 2 or 3 days per week.

The one update continously installed and then would require to be installed the next time Aurora was used afterwards. The next time could be a few minutes later or a couple of days afterwards. I am talking about the same build each time.

I've had a similar experience with one of Microsoft's updates which has been re-installing for months until I finally turned MS Updates off. Now I just pick and install newer versions of MS Updated files.

I suspect the software updates have an issue with my firewall. But clearing my cache and turning my firewall off for a few minuted, or until the software reboots, or the computer is restarted, doesn't seem to help.

In the first place, I had downloaded Aurora by mistake as an update for my stable version of Firefox, which was also having a download issue with a new update. I had used a link in an online news document that I had been reading about the new improved version of Firefox.

It's since been pointed out that Aurora is a testing version, which I hadn't been aware of when I installed it. (I had simply thought it was the new version of Firefox.) So now, I have un-installed Aurora and reinstalled the latest stable version of Firefox.

Problem solved. Firefox is working fine....
