Some drop-down features do not display at all.
When I go to http://www.usanetwork.com/, the home page has a group of items displayed across the top of the screen: Shows, Videos, Featured, Schedule. Each has a drop-down arrow to its right. In IE, if I click on any one of these down-arrows, the bottom part of the screen is overlaid with the item I wanted to see; for example, a list of USA shows. This does not happen in Firefox; none of the drop-down arrows show me anything. I DO get a left-right scroll bar across the bottom, but if I try to move the cursor to it, it disappears. If I try to use the arrow keys, the screen just jitters a little bit left and right. This is just one example; there are many other websites that have the same behavior.

I followed the "Basic Troubleshooting" steps up through and including step 6 (reset your Firefox settings) to no avail. The drop-down arrows still do not work. Because this problem occurs on more than one of my computers, I don't think it's the Firefox install and am not will to reinstall it.
I have found a work-around, though. I installed the add-on "IE View 1.4.5.3" and flagged the problem pages to always open in IE. It isn't the most elegant solution, but it works for me.
Thanks to cor-el for the suggestion that led me to try Basic Troubleshooting.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
