Lately Fore Fox keeps "NOT RESPONDING" especially in email how to fix

more options

When I try to switch to another page, it's even much worse in email when clicking on an email to read, Fire Fox freezes, turn lighter and says on top "Fire Fox NOT Responding. I have to turn it off and start again then it works. Sometimes the lightness, like its freezing over, will clear with a flash then Fire Fox starts working. I have reset Fire Fox per your suggestions on line but it did not help. Whats wrong??

Could you try two things on the Add-ons page:

(1) Set the Shockwave Flash plugin to "Ask to Activate" also known as "click to play". When you visit pages that use Flash, you'll either see a link in the black rectangle where video should play, or you'll see a "Lego-like" icon in the address bar, or both.

(2) Disable the avast! Online Security extension.

You can make these changes on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins to access Flash and Extensions to access avast!

Does Firefox work any more responsively with these changes?
