Hello,

I can use Firefox but when going to my bank website Kaspersky Internet security 2014 launch a protected browser meant to prevent hackers from accessing your data. It's been working for a while but now I get this firefox message telling me: "Couldn't load XPCOM", but as I said I'm able to browse to other websites without any problems. I googled that issue and all what I got pointed towards Firefox having trouble. I tried to uninstall Mozilla and reinstall it but nothing's changed. Has anyone got any clues?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks iamjayakumars, but your post seems to refer to people who can't use Firefox at all whereas my problem is related to the banking protection feature of Kaspersky Internet Security which triggers the "Couldn't load XPCOM" message. As I said I can use my browser to go to all other websites.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

Already tried that. It seems that the problem is related to a Kaspersky Internet Security compatibility issue so I just hope that a patch solving my case will be released shortly unless somebody got the key to that problem...
