Updating driver doesn't do it. Stopping hardware acceleration doesn't fix.
Hello - sorry, can't reply directly to your answer Phillip.
I have tried updating my intel hardware driver. That didn't work.
I tried stopping hardware acceleration - that doesn't work.
I still get a black screen -- unless I open in Safe Mode. And if I open in Safe Mode I can't use any extensions etc.
I've reinstalled; I've reset. Doesn't work.
I'm sorry, really frustrated right now. I've never had a Firefox upgrade cause a problem before.
Thank you

Hi Z-PK, when you do a Reset, hardware acceleration will be re-enabled, so you will need to disable it again.
Could you extract and post your graphics card information? That can be found on the support information page, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the upper left-hand corner, click Copy text to clipboard.
When pasting into a reply, you will see a lot of different groups of information. You can edit out the other sections and just keep "Graphics".
Here's an example:

Try to disable Direct2D and leave hardware acceleration enabled. That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.
- about:config page: gfx.direct2d.disabled = true
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
