My homepage has been hijacked by Yahoo and nothing I do seems to get rid of it.

I have tried looking in the extensions folder, it is empty. I typed about:config and sorted yahoo, it found the following:

browser.contentHandlers.types.0.title;My Yahoo! browser.contentHandlers.types.0.uri;https://add.my.yahoo.com/rss?url=%s browser.search.defaultenginename.US;Yahoo browser.search.order.2;Yahoo browser.search.order.US.1;Yahoo browser.search.param.yahoo-fr;moz35 browser.search.param.yahoo-fr-ja;mozff gecko.handlerService.schemes.mailto.0.name;Yahoo! Mail gecko.handlerService.schemes.mailto.0.uriTemplate;https://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s

I right click on these and the 'Reset' is inop. Any help?

otherwise please run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner, which are specialised in adware and browser hijackers.

hello, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

The linked article gave me an idea and it worked! I went into the menu--> options--> search, and it was right there in front of me...my default search engine was set as Yahoo. Even though my homepage was set to Google, when I typed something into the Google search bar Yahoo hijacked it and showed their results.
