Why only 4 pinned tiles when I open a new tab on v.38?

Right after updating to version 38, my new tab page displays only 4 of the 9 PINNED tiles (most visited pages) I had before.

Following some instructions from here, I just checked the "browser.newtabpage.pinned" value and all 9 sites are stored. BUT they are not displayed. Not sure if this is a space issue with version 38. Maybe someone on a desktop can confirm. It seems the new tiles are occupying more "real estate". If so, this is a design flaw, and allow me to say, inexcusable. The most visited pages/tiles feature is incredibly helpful.

Btw, in settings classic vs enhanced makes no difference.

Chosen solution

Hi, you can change the number of tiles on the New Tab Page by zooming in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

You may also want to keep the same zoom setting when clicking on a new tab: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.preload and double click on it to change 'Value' from True to False.

It is also possible in about:config to change the maximum number of tiles by scrolling down to browser.newtabpage.columns (or .rows), then right click > Modify, to set a new number in 'Value.'

As an alternative, you may like to try the add-on New Tab Tools.

HI, thanks, this is very helpful!

I reduced the size to 90% and I can see 6 tiles now. To see more I have to reduce it to 67%, so it's ok for now. I also changed the "preload" to false.

Btw, is there a way to fix the zoom at a universal 90% for every site, like Chrome does it?

Thanks again.
