Why is home page hijacked by FireFox?

Home page was set to http://Dogpile.com. FF hijacks this page to https://Dogpile.com which I do not want.

You prefer NOT to use the secure address? Try using www to avoid the site redirecting Firefox to the secure page:

http://www.dogpile.com/

Edit: Added screen shot showing the site's instruction to redirect.

Your suggestion is exactly what I entered into options. FF changes it to https!

I was just typing the address, but the following link works for me, too:

http://www.dogpile.com/

If you click that link, does Firefox change it to HTTPS, or is it only a problem in the Options page?

You don't use the HTTPS Everywhere extension, do you? That will force HTTPS on a lot of sites.
