I have updated to Thunderbird 38.1 running with XP Pro. Thunderbird fails/crashes every time I switch users. We have 3 account profiles and failures occur on all 3 profiles.

Crash reports cannot be sent to Mozilla as errors in transmission occur.

While Thunderbird is working it is good but the constant failures are frustrating.

Better if you start in safe mode ? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Wayne,

Thanks for the pointer. I have started Thunderbird in Safe Mode. Now it's "wait and see".

Wayne,

Thunderbird appears to run well in "Safe mode". If I enable Lightning - it crashes. I have turned "Hardware acceleration" off - following a tip and enabled Lightning. It seems OK. I will watch for another few days before I declare it resolved.
