Spellchecker corrects text where it shouldn't, multiple dictionaries scattered in Firefox

I use Firefox 39.0 to display database records from my own server. Often these contain a mix of English (UK), French and Spanish text.

Firefox spellchecker is switched on, and it correctly highlights mistakes in English text. But it also adds wavy red correction underlining to anything written in French or Spanish, as though it needs correcting. This despite my having added all the FR and ES dictionaries and language packs offered in the Firefox add-on library. Is it not possible to set the Firefox spellchecker to correct English-language typos, but at the same time to avoid highlighting text written in French and Spanish?

One thing I notice: in Add-ons Manager, the Firefox add-on language packs and dictionaries are scattered across Extensions, Dictionaries and Languages. Shouldn't they all have been installed in one place?

I'd appreciate help in understanding how this works.

Chosen solution

There can only be one spell checking dictionary active in Firefox at the same time. You will always see words from other languages marked as errors.
