How do I get video and audio to download instead of automatically playing?

Many websites give you the option of either downloading the audio or video file or streaming it. When I click on the download option on any given website, another tab opens and begins to play the file without downloading it. I don't want to experience the content now, that's why I'm downloading it. I'm always forced to switch to Chrome for non streaming.

Hey choadhouse,

When it automatically starts playing on your browser, right click on the player and select save video to save your audio/video files.
