Firefox remembers the "last used" setting for that type of preference and uses that as the "new default". So once the user changes page orientation to Landscape, that setting will be used until it is changed back to Portrait by the user and that becomes the "new default". Unlike when a user changes that settings in Properties in the Printer software, it will automatically return to its own "default" which is normally Portrait the next time that printer used used.

In the Firefox hidden preferences page - about:config - the print.save_print_settings set to true is the 'control preference'. Change that to False and Firefox won't "remember" the "new default". And then it should default to Portrait - but that will change many other "print" settings. too. Like Margins and Header & Footer custom settings, along with a few others.
