How do I reduce my number of server connections to overcome this error message?
Trying to open Thunderbird but I get this message: "Unable to connect you to your IMAP server . You may have exceeded the no of connections to this server. if so, use the advanced IMAP server settings dialogue to reduce the no of cached connections" Under my account settings- server settings- advanced, I changed "max no of server connections" from 5 to 3, but it had no effect.
Chosen solution
If you have an apple device getting mail turn it off. they have no limit in the number connections they will use. makes sharing difficult.

Help how. If you have reduced Thunderbird to one, I suggest you contact your provider and ask them how many you get and what is using them up.
There is nothing anyone else can do about it but you and your provider.
I found a lot of connections running on my ipad. I closed them by double clicking the menu button and then flicking all the open screens off the ipad with my thumb. This seemed to solve my problem.
I have the same server problem
Tried to close open apps on my Ipad as suggested by Hetho, but they will not go completly please help.
