I'm taking online college classes and the professors has put a link on a the page, it does not show up for me, when i clicked on the pad lock image it said the page was not secure. the pad lock is black with an orange triangle over it that has an exclamation point on it

The padlock symbols are mostly to let you know the status of that web page. It could be the link is hidden. Mark some text on the page. Then click <Control> A to highlight everything.
