On Windows I press Ctrl + J to open the list of downloads. I just installed Ubuntu 16.4 on another machine and Ctrl + J does nothing at all. Why make the controls different on these two different platforms? Who benefits from this? Not me.

The Menu's and keyboard shortcuts with Firefox on Mac OSX is due to Apple HIG and on Linux it is due to Gnome HIG.

Yeah, I know. The shortcuts are different. I think it's a bad user interface.

Actually that is wrong. Each O/S does their own programming and assigns commands chosen for their needs.
