On my laptop I am able to sync my firefox account. I was also able to do so on my prior android phone and on my prior work laptop. I just purchased a new android phone (Pixel 2 XL) and I am unable to "sign in to continue to Firefox Sync". It says I am using an incorrect password, but I am using the same password that I use the first time I sync on my laptop after every restart. I have the same problem with an iPad which I had not previously tried to sync. What is happening?

I do not wish to reset my password because I read that it will cause me to loose saved passwords. Also, it is currently working on two devices without any reset. Is there more than one password associated with my firefox account? Could this somehow be related to years back when there were two different methods to sync firefox? What can I do to get this to work without loosing data (such as saved passwords)?

Chosen solution

I have discovered the cause of my problem and solved it. On my laptop firefox instance I have a master password. When I run firefox and click the sync icon, firefox prompts me for the *master* password, not the account sync password (they are not the same). Apparently, after entering the master password it then silently logs me in to account sync with the saved account sync password. Since I have been doing this for years, I forgot that there were two different passwords and that I was typing in the master password, not the account sync password. When I use the correct account sync password in my new device (android phone), it works.
