Hi ann.dennison, if you are using the method of dragging to the Bookmarks Toolbar, you can drag from the "identity" area to the left of the address. There is usually an "i-in-a-circle" there, and for secure sites, a green lock. Does that work?

No. The lock is gray and there is no "i-in-a-circle"
Aha. If you drag the gray lock, does it behave like a green lock (as pictured in the article)?
no it does not
Can you grab and drag anything ?
Or bookmark it and then drag it out of Bookmarks to the Bookmark Toolbar.
You can also right click the toolbar and make Folders for like type sites. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/bookmarks-toolbar-display-favorite-websites
Note that the user agent shows a very outdated Firefox 37 version.

I just downloaded the most recent version as of the day I downloaded Firefox. None of the answers have solved the bookmark question. I am not able to get bookmarks anywhere. I guess I will switch browsers since Mozilla is not working like it used to before I upgraded to newest version.
Hi Ann, I've created a quick video showing you how to add a site to your bookmarks toolbar:
If that's not working for you, would you mind sending us a screencast of what you're seeing, so we can see what steps you are taking to reproduce the issue? This will help us to take the appropriate next steps.
Using macOS, you can also use the QuickTime Player to record portions of your screen.
Once you've recorded your video, you can share it using Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive... Just send us a link to the video and we'll take a look!
