The original account was a gmail account so I tried setting up a new gmail account and then syncing the old account data to it through Thunderbird. I can see the backed up data briefly (literally for a moment when i boot up Thunderbird) but then it disappears (possible this is because of the attempt to sync with gmail?).

I have all the email data backed up but i have no idea how to access it. Please help.

Addt'l background: i recently migrated data to a new mac and when i restored my thunderbird all data appeared EXCEPT this one gmail account that i no longer control.

Thanks! b

Restore your backed up messages to the built-in 'Local Folders' account. Then you can upload them to the server using your current Gmail account.
