Why can't I custom size the Youtube window like I used to be able to? It's either 15 in (the size of my laptop) or full screen. Something has changed ?

I'm running a 32" extended monitor on a 15" Lenovo laptop. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I could stretch the Broswer window while on Youtube, to any size plus full screen if I chose too.. Now I'm only able to either stretch the youtube broswer window to 15" max, or full screen the window. Something has changed with Firefox. What's changed.

Thank you.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 29.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html If you use it Reinstall with Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.134 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Hi, no idea what is going on, but since your Firefox is out of date you can do this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

the last response was worthless. I posted a screen shot of the problem. You'll notice my FFX browser window has large white dead spaces in each side. This was not the case until recently. Before this issue began, I could stretch out the browser window and everything inside grew with it proportionately. Now anything in the browser window only grows to a max size. So when I stretch out the browser window, the youtube window only gets to 15". then the browser just continues to grow with a dead space on either end. So I cannot adjust the Youtube viewing window any larger then 15". What is the problem ?

Hi, a option was given and you have decided to use a out dated browser and not update as was suggested and which could fix the issue.

Then try this please : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST''''is issue still there ?

please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then

TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

No, you assume incorrectly. This browser was updated before my last response. And Safe mode did nothing

And I did a full restart.

Hi, you seem to miss the intention here. Uninstall. Your Profile is saved. Install new one after deleting folders if they remain. With luck fixed in 7mins or less.

Does not matter your browser is showing here as 60.0.2 while current version is 61.0.1

If you were running 61.0.1 I would still ask you to reinstall with the full version installer.

My very 1st post to you : It says no you will not loose data. I have put backup in there as it is a responsible thing to do and to have if not now for in the future and have the knowledge to do a backup.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

I just uninstalled in reinstalled FFX as stated in the instruction above. I didn't change the problem.

Again the problem. I'm using a 32" extented monitor.

When in Youtube, I open the FFX browser window. No matter how big I stretch the FFX Browser window, the YT viewing window only gets to a 14-15" size, or I can click it to Full screen size.

Up until a couple of weeks back, I was able to stretch the FFX browser window and the YT page and Viewing window would grow with the stretching of the FFX Window. Now I stretch the FFX window and the YT page will not grow with it.

What did FFX change in their browser to cause this ?
