Password entry fails although password is correct for server

more options

I have used Thunderbird (Mac version)with my comcast.net account for years. Recently, It gives me the message "Login to server pop3.comcast.net with username cerech@comcast.net failed.", But, it does this only about 1/2 of the time. Same user name and password work correctly on comcast.

Password stored it Thunderbird matches the comcast.net password.

Same problem in safe mode.

Any suggestions?

Are you using secure server settings, i.e. port 995 for the incoming POP server, SSL/TLS security; port 465 for the outgoing server, smtp.comcast.net, SSL/TLS security?

Although Comcast password was working, I went ahead and changed both Comcast and Thunderbird, That seemed to work.
