Avoiding search engine in address bar

more options

When I enter an address in the address bar Firefox automatically assumes I want to us a search engine. I want to go directly to the address I have put typed in. I do not want to use ANY search engine at all. I've tried deleting search engines but Firefox won't let me delete the last one the in the list. How can I stop Firefox from assuming that a properly formatted url is something I want to search for?

Try going to Personalize and adding a search field next to your address bar. This way, the address bar should be for URL entries only and you will not lose one-click search functionality if you ever need it.
