Dear TS, Friday January 28th 2022 Firefox updated my Win 10 PC to version 96.0.3 and wiped out everything from the previous Firefox version. No bookmarks, History, or add ons, everything is gone! How do we get everything back? I have a recent backup using Acronis on an external drive and even copies of old profiles from 2016. If the data can't be retrieved I'm thinking the only option is to remove Firefox and attempt restoring it from the Acronis backup. Sincerely, Robert.

Chosen solution

It is possible that a new profile got created for some reason.

Did you already try to reboot the computer to see if that has effect ?

You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created.

Dear Cor-el, Tuesday February 1st 2022

Thank-you for your prompt reply. Apologies for not getting back sooner but this is but one of many App update issues and getting Windows working properly was priority. Rebooting had no effect so went through your suggestions. Finding my original Profile knwsqwor.default in folder C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

I typed about:profiles into the Firefox address bar, got the profiles page with 4 different profiles for some reason, and set knwsqwor.default as the default profile. Opened a new browser with it and it worked. Shutdown Firefox and restarted with the new 64bit version and it works!

Thank-you very much. Sincerely, Robert.
