When thunderbird tries to connect to gmail, I get the gmail log in page. Your page on fixes https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=gmail+on+thunderbird says: "After you have gone through the OAuth process" but doesn't say how to do that. I followed all the steps. I never see any such process. I just keep getting the google log in page.

ere are the basics:

- change your security authorization to Oauth2 (do this for the incoming server settings and also for the Outgoing (SMTP) server - two places - remove the password entries for the account (remove the entire entries both incoming and outgoing) - that password info is at Tools>Preferences>Privacy&Security - click 'saved passwords' Then click 'show passwords' then highlight the rows with incoming and outgoing gmail servers and click DELete. - check to ensure that TB is set to accept cookies (that setting is just above the Passwords section) - Google will then step you through the authentication process for your PC.

I deleted all traces of my gmail account and passwords from TB, and tried to create a brand new account. No help. I get past the gmail login popup, grant permission, TB says "unable to log in at server Probably wrong configuration, username, or password" BUT I can log in on any browser with those credentials.

(And yes, I accept all cookies)

It may help if you post a screenshot of your server settings for input and output.
