INVALID sites within Autoplay settings on New Version Firefox 9.0.0 Autoplay Settings Will Not Hold Setting Block Audio and Video Autoplay Settings Will Not Hold Removal of all items

Websites listed about: welcome

    Tried to Delete__It will NOT delete permanently
    It automatically shows Allow Audio and Video
     I set it to "Block All Audio and Video". I then clicked "Save Changes"

Also Did Same Settings for this site___ about:welcome^privateBrowsingId=1

     Tried to Delete_It will NOT delete permanently
     I then clicked "Save Changes"
     It won't hold for either one, and reverts back...

So I did research and found that the second one is an INVALID file completely The other is a mere link to Firefox New Open Page. STILL CANNOT BLOCK EITHER! I am running MacOS 12.6.1 on MacBookAir Laptop. When I run Firefox 108.2 or 108.1 This problem does Not Occur. I have tried everything I can think of including closing all extensions, Making security settings Standard instead of Strict, Can anyone HELP WITH THIS BUG ! Thanks!

Make sure you keep the "Site settings".

  • clearing "Site settings" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

This answer DID NOT solve the problem. Never had this problem in version 7.0.0 and 7.0.1 and never had to do more than just mark all items as "Block Audio and Video"...Not it won't work at all ! Even after I tried everything you said here.

At first it did it in both Strict Settings and In Custom Settings, but NOT in Standard Settings. Now it does it in ALL ways of settings. Highly annoying. Going back to 7.0.1 as it actually works ! If you can give good advice or get them to fix this blessed mess I surely would appreciate it! THANKS!

Any change you make is removed immediately. It isn't a site, it's an 'about' page and the forced settings seem to be deliberate.

Make sure Firefox isn't set to run in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

No, that isn't the case (here at least). I have seen the issue mentioned on Reddit as well. If you check Autoplay on the Privacy page of Settings, you will probably find you are stuck with those settings also.

Thanks Terry, You must be right, But if Firefox Continues to Force Invalid Chrome Settings on it's users, then I am afraid I will have to move to a different Browser. This IS JUST PLAIN WRONG for ALL FIREFOX USERS ! I can only hope this ends up being a "Bug" and that someone will get a reward for solving it !

By the way Just so everyone knows, I have the settings set already as cor-el user states! Tried almost everything. Impossible problem SO FAR :) THANKS ALL OF YOU ! Please post if you find the solution !

I don't know what the about:welcome page is and don't anticipate ever using it.

about:welcome is the page you usually get if you install or update Firefox.

You can check that those pages aren't set as multiple homepages.

You can check the homepage setting in "Settings -> Home".

Firefox supports multiple homepages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

My home page setting is "blank page".
