My email was hacked and AT&T suspended my account and I can no longer access my old [email1]@att.net email. My new email is [email2]@att.net. Your system will not let me change my information since I cannot access the old email account. Do I just delete the entire account and if so will I loose all my Firefox information I have saved and get a new account?

Nothing anyone can do since this is only a forum user help. Lost email access is Lost firefox account. You can't change or delete account without the Original email account to verify the update or change.

Hi Wilton,

I understand that you're having trouble changing your email address and user ID in Firefox due to your old email being hacked and suspended. I'm here to help you with your question.

To change your email address and user ID in Firefox, you would typically go to your Firefox Account settings. However, since you no longer have access to your old email account, you are unable to change this information directly.

In this situation, I recommend reaching out to Mozilla Support for further assistance. They have the necessary tools and resources to help you update your email address and user ID in Firefox.

Deleting your entire account is not necessary at this stage. By contacting Mozilla Support, they can guide you through the process of updating your account information without losing any of your saved Firefox data.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards, Firefox Support Volunteer

Hmm, really? I have never heard of that. Do you have a link for more information about this? (If this came from ChatGPT, it could be a hallucination.)

Hi Wilton, as Terry suggested, your data is stored locally; what is in the Sync cloud is a partial copy. If you disconnect from your old account and create a new one, your local data should NOT be removed (if you are asked about removing it, don't remove it). But since nothing is perfect, making the suggested backup is a very good idea.

This does seem like a response ChatGPT would make. I hear people say the problem with ChatGPT is it can be over confident that it is right even when it is wrong so you have to check on the sources.

People at Mozilla cannot access individuals Firefox Accounts due to the encryption as explained in for example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-firefox-sync-keeps-your-data-safe-even-if-tls-fails
