Cookies getting deleted every once in a while on iOS -- how do I prevent this?

Every few months or so, after closing and reopening the app I find that all my stats etc. are gone on any websites that store stats. It's not a cookie selection I made, these websites manage to keep the cookies for weeks or months (exactly 150 days this time according to a streak I had on a daily game) and then one day it's all gone. Is there some sort of cookie expiration setting or storage cap I can change to prevent this?

Hi Renee,

I can't find any reported bug around this type of issue from the Firefox for iOS repository. Let me follow up to our product team to make sure.

Sorry about losing your streak. I can imagine how bad it make you feel.

Hey Reene,

I finally hear back from the team and here's their answer:

  • Cookies are set by the websites and WKWebView cookie store has its own limitations which Firefox for iOS doesn't have control over
  • Somehow during a restore, cookies don't actually get reset but likely Firefox for iOS load the website again and this depends on the website

So there are 2 possibilities here and it might be worth asking the game provider in the case of 1.

Hope this answer helps and please let me know if you have further question.
