This post was not helpful'

There was no Play Sushi software listed on Windows Control Panel.

For WXP Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600, the writer says that Java Control Panel is turned on, so what then?

I uninstalled Firefox, and reinstalled a later version, and Play Sushi was still there. I assume that there is malware under a different name that restores Play Sushi.

The PlaySushi site has instructions on removal, including at the bottom of the page a link to an uninstaller if you can not uninstall it via the Windows control panel - http://www.playsushi.com/Deactivate.ps

Try http://www.exterminate-it.com/malpedia/remove-playsushi

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

Thanks for your post, but I don't think that I can use it, or even use Firefox again. While working on the Play Sushi problem, I somehow lost my menus and buttons, and my Firefox was captured by Google, and turned into a topic search machine.

I uninstalled Firefox, and later installed a later version, but there was no option to install the default version of Firefox, so the updated version was also in the Google topic search machine without menus or web navigation buttons and window.

I checked all the available (Google) add ons, but none seemed to provide web navigation functions.

So I am apparently left with no ability in future to ever install non-Google Firefox on this machine. All I wanted was Google as Start page - no google tool bars or configuration, but I cannot find a way back.

To remove this plugin open Computer, Local disk(C, D, E etc.) frc(or computer name given on Windows Install) AppData, Roaming, Mozilla, Extensions. This contains the contents of all your Firefox extentions and will all have file names like example {ec8030f7-c32b-474f-9c0d-14a1a8a84352}etc. Deleting these will disable and effectively remove all addons installed. That would be the easy way, but getting your other addons back will require reinstalling those specific addons.

To get rid of just the playsushi addon will require a bit more work. press start button, open search, open advanced, make sure under location you put search everywhere, also allow it to look in nonindexed, hidden, and system files. type in the search window .playsushi press enter. The search will take a bit depending on the size of your hard drive. Once done, you should see 3 or 4 files pop up. Anything with playsushi attached to it, you can delete. After you've done that, run the search again to make sure all .playsushi files are gone. Clear recycle bin, and wallah, it's gone.
