I started updating to Firefox 3.6.10 version from 3.6.9 the day before. When I go and check the update status under Help, I see Firefox is still trying to download 3.6.10 version.

Please help me to fix this problem.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)

Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
(%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates

@cor-el: Thanks for your reply. When I checked under Tools --> Options --> Updates, my latest update for 3.6.10 didn't download properly. I fixed this issue by restarting my computer.

It is now resolved.

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

You can use "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\" in the File name field
