Why do I have to resest site ids or password everytime I clear history, cookies, or caches (but I'm not clearing passwords)?

I go to clear browsing history, caches, and or cookies to help Firefox run better, and even though I do not ever ask to clear logins & or passwords somehow the system doesn't remember one or the other and I have to reenter both or just the password to log into my favorite sites.
