how do I temporarily reset customized toolbars to standard layout?
Nice to be able to customize the toolbars, or anything for that matter, but it can be a pain for anyone else who has to use that computer.
How can I reset the toolbars back to the default layout so I can actually work with someone else's customized firefox (as opposed to fighting it), and have the customizations reappear on request or when firefox is next launched?

If you Reset the Toolbars to Default Set, you will lose your Customization. And you you will have to Re-Customize the Toolbars to make them appear as before.
So the solution for you will be to Create Separate Unique Firefox Profiles.

I wouldn't get used to doing it that way, the Profile Manager as we know it today is slated to be removed from Firefox in the near future. No date or version has been set, but I would be surprised if it wasn't gone by the end of this year.
Check and tell if its working.
