How do I add the http:// URL prefix in the address bar in Firefox 7?
after i updated my Firefox to Firefox 7, I noticed in the release notes that the 'http://' URL prefix' is now hidden by default. How do I enable the http URL prefix? (Note: If https is used it will show the prefix)
Chosen solution
To restore the "http" prefix:
- Type "about:config" in the location bar and press Enter.
- Use the "Filter" box to search for "trim"
- Double-click or right-click on the "browser.urlbar.trimURLs" preference to change its value to "false"

The same bug occurs in Firefox 12.
I tried the trim URLs directive, but it doesn't seem to work. Please, I would like to use Firefox again because Chrome also decided to hide the protocol of the URL.
The fix works in Firefox 3.6.23. Also, I can keep my 'stop loading' button always visible in this version.
I would like these 2 features in Firefox 12 so I can upgrade to the latest and greatest version while still keeping it customisable and usable for me, please.
The fix seems to work with this plugin:
