Who is responsible for compatibility between Firefox Browser and Zone Alarm Extreme? Zone Alarm as yet only supports Firefox up to and not including Firefox 6 and 7. ie Firefox 5 is ok. The site check in the toolbar does not work. I do not like this constant update of Firefox because Zone Alarm is slow to respond.

There is no scheduled release yet for the update according to this thread: Firefox 6 support - ZoneAlarm User Community.

Because Firefox is several security updates behind, you have a difficult choice between losing your ZoneAlarm add-on features and running a secure browser (Security Advisories for Firefox). It's your call, but I recommend upgrading the browser.

When Firefox disables an add-on, it usually is because it includes a list of compatible Firefox versions and it hasn't yet been updated for Firefox 7. If it works on Firefox 5, there is a reasonable chance it will work on Firefox 7, but no guarantee. This is something you could search about before going to the next step.

You can force Firefox to ignore add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

Add-on Compatibility Reporter :: Add-ons for Firefox

After you install this add-on and restart Firefox, there will still be a message that "--- is incompatible with Firefox 7.0" but the add-on will be enabled and a Disable button will appear for that entry.

Unfortunately, some add-ons really are incompatible and can cause stability issues, so please bear that in mind.

I have decided to stick with Firefox 5 and wait for Zone Alarm! Zone Alarm I believe is still protecting me, is that right! I do not know what real advantages in upgrading to the current version of Fiefox. I still beleive that the old system was less confusing and created less problems for myself and other users. If the old browser was ok why update because you still have the antivirus and if you stay on main stream web sites you should be ok. Am I wrong?
