Chosen solution

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

See Firefox Profile Folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
  • Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

thank you to Cor-el for the reply. Unfortunately I have no way to make an html out of the old files. I was only able to copy my firefox folder and its contents to a backup drive. I figured if I transferred it back to the the new drive, I'd have a fully functional firefox.

Thank you again for your help, cor-el. Unfortunately I did not make a backup of my profile file apparently. So I'll have to go back and find my websites manually. At least I know now how to prevent this from happening again.
