Every time I open Firefox it wants access the internet. I want that stopped!

Since I downloaded the new Firefox 17 it causes my firewall to throw up the message that FirFox wants internet access, Block or Allow. Also, each incident, Firefox shows a different numbered Port.

I wan to stop this. I don't want any system to have internet access. I want manual control of aALL software access to the internet.

I would appreciate learning of a fix.

You do know firefox is a web browser, so it needs to access the internet to be useful right?
