I have att.net e mail using yahoo. Can I switch to thunderbird without changing my e mail address?

I have E mail address of att.net supported by yahoo. Want to get rid if yahoo because of privacy issues. Can I switch to thunderbird without changing my E mail address (@att.net) ? Yahoo came from att when I first signed up

Thunderbird is email client software and not a provider. Only providers issue email addresses. You can use Thunderbird to access your email account but your still need a provider to have an active email address.
