Right after I install Lightning, Thunderbird crashes. I then open Thunderbird in safe mode. In this mode I disable the Lightning add-on. After this change Thunderbird opens with no problem. Very frustrating, do to the fact that I wanted to replace using Outlook for my e-mail & calendar service with Thunderbird & Lightning. Any help would be appreciated.

I would remove Lightning and then reinstall. Every version of Thunderbird has a matching version of Lightning. Make sure you get the version of Lightning that goes with your version of Thunderbird.

Always download Thunderbird and add ons from the official Mozilla site. There is a Mozilla link at the top of this page. When you click it and then select Thunderbird there will be an add on link there.

I removed Lightning & then reinstalled. Unfortunately, Thunderbird crashed immediately. Any suggestions?

What versions are you running on both softwares?

Thunderbird Version 24.5.0 Lightning Version 2.6.5

Those are the correct versions to work together. I wonder if you have some other software interfering? Try starting Windows in safe mode.
